If your site is geared towards a broad category, like electronics, people search for many keywords: TVs, A/V receivers, Cameras, DVD players, etc. So how do you market this? My competitors seem to write articles on Squidoo and hubpages and use the anchor text, but they focus on 1 keyword phrase at a time, like TVs. Is this what I should do? Start with one type of electronic, do the squidoo/hubpage, and then get a bunch of backlinks to the squidoo and my site for one keyword? What about other phrases in that category like LCD TV or Plasma TV? it seems like just focusing on long-tail keywords for TVs would take at least 1-2 months. So what about the other categories, Cameras, DVD players? I don't have enough resources to effectively market long tail keywords for 15 different categories, even though I have the content. When I go to write an article I lose out on word density if I try to market for multiple categories in the same article. Please help.
I'm sorry I can't help, but I am also wondering the same about this. Any input would be very insightful!
You'll get the best results, in terms of targeted traffic, the more specific you are. Not just the type of item, but specify brand, make model - that's how people look for electronic goods. Just trying to target blanket terms like 'cameras' is far, far too broad, generic and competitive,
Is it enough to mention the makes and models in the articles? Lets say I'm targeting cameras. It is easy enough to write an article about how to choose a camera. I can also say what the best ones are and mention: Sony cybershot TX1 camera Canon XYZ camera Samsung ABC camera I can even write about waterproof cameras, front screen cameras, or whatever the hot search terms are. Since I already have all this info on my site isn't that duplicate? Or can I also post this on other sites like Digg and hubpages? Is the trick to write 3 diff articles and post a diff one on each site? Then, if I need to get backlinks to these 3 articles posted on Squidoo/digg/hubpages. Is it better to concentrate the backlinks to one article or to spread the backlinks out to the 3 articles? Also why would I want to go to a bunch of high PR ranking camera forums and post backlinks to these article on Squidoo instead of directly to my site? It seems that people don't want to go to the Squidoo article and then click through to my site and see the same info.
It's called optimizing for the long-tail keywords. Also, check the commercial intention of these keywords to see where they stand.
Marketing for a site that sells a product, you just need to identify a broad keyword that identifies someone who is ready to buy a product in that category. Now, as you wouldnt want to stuff keywords, and I mean, Google doesnt take notice of what is in the meta keywords tag anyway, just make sure that the right keywords are on page, and do a ton of off page SEO to promote those other keywords using those particular keywords in the anchor text and in articles, etc etc. I could imaging that marketing an online store with so many diverse products could be a very lengthy task, so I hope that you have got it all together with it, could be very profitable for you!
There are always competition in any field you enter. You should try to focus on smaller things first before going to big picture. I suggest you to do the same as your competitors done: write articles, squidoo, etc to get more backlinks to your website. The only thing different is, you should concentrate smaller group as below example: 1. plasma tv ottawa 2. jvc plasma tv 3. 27 inch plasma tv Select low competition key phrases(high search volume, low search results) for each of your category and start creating backlinks using proper anchored key phrases. Remember, your product line is huge, and therefore you might need to treat each page separately to get the most benefit from SEO.
No no no. You need to do exactly the opposite, you need to be specific not broad. The broad keywords don't identify someone who is ready to buy. You couldn't be more wrong. The broad terms are too competitive, and don't convert. You do better by targeting searchers a lot further into the research for buying cycle.
The secret here is ti get backlinks from this articles. So you can write anything about cameras, then put a link to your site for your keyword: <a href="yourdomain.com">Sony cybershot TX1 camera</a> Code (markup): Be careful and not overoptimize the article for that keywork or the article will outrank you in search engines. Don't do it. It will be duplicate content and sites as Ezinearticles will not accept your article. Well it is not you can... is more like you have to do it. Get backlinks from everywhere. From forum signatures, from social profiles, Web 2.0 like Squidoo, Webpaint,Hubpages... Bookmarking sites like Digg or Mixx, comments in blogs, whatever... I should put 2 links in each article. I use to write in the end something like: If you want to buy a <a href="yourdomain.com">Sony cybershot TX1 camera</a> visit my blog <a href="yourdomain.com">yourdomain.com</a> Code (markup): It is very time consuming yes. Articles will give you authorite links. If you build 100 backlinks to your site the same day Google can penalize you. Building a link to a Web 2.0 and from there to your site will give you also power because your squidoo will gain authorite also.
