I have several 5 - 10 websites that use adsense. I am trying to figure out the best way to set up my adsense channels. Currently the system I am think in about is: Site Name + Unit Type + Placement on Page I can not figure out from this system how determine exactly how a specific unit is doing. Maybe I need a system like this: Site Name + Unit Type + Placement on Page + Unique identifier Is there another solution I am overlooking? How does everyone manage their channels?
You can add upto 200 channels so if you have fewer sites, you can have a dedicated channel for every ad unit on each site
When I do my channels I use sitename+0001 The site name will be the channels for name, then the numbers will be taken from an exel spreadsheet I have setup with the details. For example 0001 No borders Top of page with article wrapping ad. size: 468x60 color: red, black, green page: powerplay.php It does take time to set it up, but worth it in the end. Cheers
Here is the set up that I am starting to standardize on: Each site has their own set of channels. For each site there is a channel for the entire site: Example: "Site1" each ad unit gets a channel with the site name and position: "site1 footer" "site1 widesky" "site1 content" Then when I create the Google Adsense Block I will use the site channel plus the position channel. Every block will have at least two channels with one of them being the site channel. "site1"+"site1 widesky" So when I look in my adsense reports I can look to see how much the entire site has made and the site CTR using the site channel name "site1" and I can see how much each ad unit has made and the individual units CTR. "site1 widesky" Does this seem like a good system? Could anything be improved? All questions and comments are appreciated! Thanks!
