deadmoon a brief look at your website shows all the reason the VERY basics are missing 1. see w3.org-validation 2. you mess up html4.01 and xhtml ( a little ) 3. ZERO SEO 4. ZERO optimized adsense .. you did 100% to be UNsuccessful alexa shows that you have near zero traffic - its hard to earn with no ppl but yoruself visiting your pages - yhou need to present all in a G/Y/MSN lovable way to direct crowds toward you just study the case about askthebuilder from Google - to see how adsense should be and to see how much you could earn after years of solid work you may reverse that ZERO optimization situaion of your site these next few days and start getting traffic and $ back to school --> meta tags! back to work each individual post fully SEO'd because tech review surely are search by thousands each day on various topics and i can imagine that many of the technical products create a high paying click-$ on adsense hence the topic of your site leaves YOU lots to do to earn your $ but you need to start perfect from the very basics and if necessary even change the software used to create your pages or at least modify it to be fully valid and fully SEO's on each posted article
Hi I know. The template (layout) is only up because its either that, or nothing. For the past few months it has just been sitting there with a crap CMS doing nothing (the site as a whole). I am not sure about optimized adsense (any change you could expand on this. I browse through these forums but not sure what you mean), but I know about the restand I am going to sort it out over the next couple of days Thanks for your comments though
deadmoon a template usually is "filled" with macros that are repalced by the actual content for that macro hence as in my own blog SW where i had to modify all myslef to have the posts SEO's just have a look at your templates used for the main page and all other pages and modify -- if needed learn how to first first full SEO to get traffic, then adsense optimization to get $*traffic because SEO brings the traffic if topics are interesting - tech topics are needed by many - thus a good traffic potential of site USERS/visitors exist for adsense optimization study the askthebuilder case published by Google at https://www.google.com/adsense/askthebuilder then visit that sample website and study thru a few pages looking at the adsense placements as posted soemwhere else the past days Google has a precise map of a page showing the most clicked areas of a page study https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/static.py?page=tips.html particularly the graphic about "Where should I place Google ads on my pages?" these most valuable Google pages sometimes are hard to find when needed = bookmark them !
Love the banter and sarcasm on this thread! Wa the original poster of the message sincere in asking about how to make a living on the Internet? Is the writer a newbie, or was the writer merely starting something worth indulging in? Whichever outcome may be the best, how come nobody offered concise information? Are you all friends out on a Friday night prank in the Bay area? Interesting, that someone could ask for information on making money on the NET, which some of us are diligently and quietly persuing undertaking, yet also in need of the odd advice here and there. Just a point of view, nothing worth being sarcastic about.
Remember, some of the people talking like "I make $50 000 /month with adsense" are just wind and no weight behind it... so don't despair, everybody starts somewhere...
I haven't made a single penny yet. It's only my first week though. Hopefully my luck will turn around after a month.
no wonder no penny i havent seen any adsense at all on your site if you do all the recommended adsense optimization as per askthebuilder online tutorial - then you should earn solid $ with a medical site provided you get real traffic to your site and that again is just a matter of SEO basics - hence time*efforts=$ right now you have virually zero traffic - but thats normal for a brand new site but after a months of FULL promotion-work and SEO traffic should start and continuously go UP
I sell stuff too . And I make a tiny bit from affiliate programs and adsense. But that's just money that I never see as it goes directly into my saving account, which all goes to the government at the end of the year (blah). The real money comes from my online stores. Do something that interests you and the money will follow... Here's some good advice... Good luck!!
I sell pottery on eBay (coming from Stoke on Trent, it was an obvious thing to do!), have several websites and plans in the pipeline which sell services.
Thanks for the suggestions. Although it doesn't seem right to put up adsense on my site which sells medications. It makes it look amateurish. With a full time job, it's tough to find time to promote my sites. Over time, I hope to draw more traffic to it. I'm still trying to learn about SEO, etc.
you certainlly have a valid point there but there also MAY be another angle to view adsense if you have a website - any website - for a particular topic this professional website also may serve as a platform for smaller non-professional or home business to get in contact with customers by offering complimentary services for example. a small home office, a single mother with children etc has no time to go thru all the learning or may be financing to set up a professional web store, yet they may have valuable services or products to offer JUST for your site visitors lets make one precise example you would have a praticular medicine or therapy for "frozen shoulder" a few pills or what ever ... another site may have an alternate plan for accupuncture therapy ( ST 38 ) just for "frozen shoulder" ... a possible valid and efficient alternate offer to pure chemo med some site visitors may prefer your product others either leave your site or find an alternate offer ON YOUR site no matter who finally offers the product or services many other alternate ad-possibilities where a professional site - even if NO additional income from adsense is neeed - might CREATE benefits FOR many other business out there. when looking at all plkanet as a family business then there are many new ways to see/perceive advertisement on a web site hence adsense on a popular high traffic site may also be regarded as supporting other smaller business in their early development and growth years
You have a point there. I'll definitely consider this! I'll try it on my site-zoom.com site first. I'm starting to like this forum. There's so many nice, knowlegeable people offering advice
