Some people are paying forums poster to post content in their forum and try to generate discussions.

There are artificial ways to get the forum moving...i.e: paid posters

However, you can't rely on that forever, you will have to get genuine exposure to your target audience. So I suggest some thorough SEO, to get ranked for targetted keywords via SE's..

First of all, I think you need to make the forum look more professional, and explain the main point and theme of your forum. Customize your template, and make it stand out more. Get rid of the phpbb logo and make it look better. Thats step one.

I use phpbb too for my forum. But you gotta make it attractive and explain your users what your forum is about, and why they should post, and how posting will benefit them etc.

PM me if you need any more help. I get daily sign ups and posts.

I don't like ico-content, or any other auto-generated content creators, as they are not people, and as such will not reply to anything posted in reply... a HUGE turn off for new members. I do however agree with everything else in your post and would have said the same thing had you not already done so.

One thing I have noticed in many other threads concerning this, is that having friends and family members create multiple accounts and having PLANNED discussions can often work wonders... as while there is deceit involved, at least the 'fake' members can reply should an actual real member ask a question.
