My blog http://EngineersCanSell.com has finally started taking off a bit. I'm gathering 4-5 emails per day and have several hundred now in my database. My problem is that I really don't know what to do with them. Can anyone provide any insight into strategies on how to monetize the list as it grows? Also, how many emails should I have before it's considered a good size list, is 1,000 a decent size? Amazon and Google Ads haven't made me any money thus far. Thanks in advance!
Your blog appears to be offering sales information. It stands to reason that you should be presenting them with products, services, information, and training on sales methods. You will want to either create these products or consider becoming an Affiliate for publishers of these products. I would consider looking through ClickBank to see what they have available. A "good size list" will be determined by a variety of factors. What you want to focus on is building a TARGETED list that you can sell to. Then just focus on making it bigger. The first list I ever started really making money with started with the 1st subscriber. That 1 subscriber purchased from me. I was hooked on Internet Marketing from that moment forward. Today, I manage lists in the thousands. Sounds like you are off to a great start! Congratulations!
Several hundred! Start right now Analyze what type of person subscribes to your list and take an educated guess as to what type of products or information they'd be interested in...then market it to them. FYI: I tried to look at your site but it wouldn't load. I tried the link and I tried pasting URL in my browser. Nothing worked?
I agree with Trafficwave. The other alternative is to create a click-through to a lead generation site. Since you already have the emails you can probably begin marketing to them directly. If you can get them from your blog to another niche targeted site you might be able to secure a sale immediately instead of waiting for them to be recycled through email or other form of marketing. Them them while they are warm leads.
You can send out product recommendations every few weeks in order to make money. Let people know what you like and chances are they will trust you more if you personally have used the product. Affiliate marketing.
Thanks for the advice! I looked at a few affiliates and signed up on ClickBank and just sent my first email out to the masses today. I went with this offer. And I put a link on my sales engineer blog to it too. If you're interested, I'll let you know how things go! I'll explain you something important, dude the old marketing "fashion" was: 1. get traffic 2. send this traffic to sales page an hope that your sales page convert them into buyers Now the New style, is: 1. get traffic 2. capture information from this traffic, especially emails 3. build a relationship with LIST 4.
