Hi, i have now set up my sites with adsense for search, so basically added a search bar for my websites, however i was thinking that each search i would get 5 pence or something, however i dont get anything. What do they actually have to do, in order for me to get money? Will.
Users will have to search for specific keywords and click on the advertisements; just as they appear in Google search. No ads for the keyword your user is searching for = No potential money.
These search boxes will never make more than a few% of your revenue. Every site should have a search box and there are pros and cons for choosing a google search box over a search script of your own. It is true that search boxes are good for users, but the google search box will only offer your pages if they are indexed so it is not the most user friendly form. Also it helps a user leave your site rather than a dedicated search script that keeps people on site (if you have wat they ar looking for) The extra $10 is always nice though. I also feel it lends a little bit of authority to the ad blocks on your page. When users see or use the google logo on the search they may associate the ads by google with things they are looking for and be more likely to click.
no i add the search box just for the benefit of visitors I get 300 quiry / month less than 1 dollar :S
I get much more queries per month. Here's what I usually do: I put the google search well placed and I default it to my domain and have the form opens a new window. So that when users are looking for something they get a new window with results only from my site and a few ads. If they click an ad it's fine, they go to the advertiser site but still have one browser window with my site and if they click a page of my site they're again going to get a chance to click an ad.
