You must be looking in the wrong places if they are all asking for reciprocal links.

I like how you refer to us as "you lot" like were all part of some gang, lol :p

What do you need from the directories mostly?

Id avoid linking back, its not neccessary.

    Try these lists:

    http://www.vmoptions.com/directory-list.php
    http://www.directorycritic.com/free-directory-list.html
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=112051#post8495174

When using large lists its a case of submitting to them all or going through to pick out the ones you want to use.

I have a directory (PM me for url because I cannot post here yet) which you can submit to. There is a small charge of £1.99 for the whole year which is mainly to make sure the links that get approved are of the best quality and to rid the site of SPAM. There is also no requirement to link back to us.

    Hope this helps you.

It depends what you looking from directories. They didn't give you good positions in serps or a lot of traffic. May be a little bit PR

Don't give links back to any directory. Imagine, if they turn spammy in future or get converted into a linkfarm, you'll harm your own position. You can get penalized for linking to bad neighbourhood.

What Pipes suggested was cool. You might also check http://www.web-directories.ws (this is by our honoured gang member CanadienEH)

    Ain't we? :D

Remember to not add too many at a time though, I just add 3-4 a couple of times a week, that way it doesn't take long and they soon mount up.

if u want to get back link from reciprocal then three way link exchange is the best way to well manage your site. otherwise your site page full with links. :(

so give linkback to directory from other site where u have space to put link of directory.

    or

free listing is the best method to get link from directories.

There are tons of junk directories nowadays .
Give up those directories who ask for a linkback .
I also suggest you pay attention to link quality rather than link quantity .
