How do you look for a medium sized site?

    Hi,

I am looking for a busy site and I might have the budget for it, (I think it would fall in the medium sized site range).

But how would you go about making such a request?
You cannot say, "I have $x who has a site for me", 'cause you might get ripped off.

So what should I do, ask for the traffic I have in mind?
For example, "+2000 page views, no forums, ..." and so on?

Or should I just say I want a site that makes at least $xxx in AdSense, (although the figures cannot be verified).

How would you look for a medium size site?

If earnings are what determines the price for you then you'd post the earnings you want to see.

    The figures CAN be verified.

Unique visitors per month is a good indicator.

So I guess I would have to say around 20K per months.

20K per/month is a good amount, but you would also want to look at the type of traffic. Is it coming from search engines, other links, PPC, etc.

Most sites I see here don’t give that kind of info.
If I say I want at least 20K unique per months.
    No file/image hosting site.

That should be a good start to see what sites I can get offered.
Once I get a site that I like then I would investigate where the traffic would come from.

Would you have such a site?

    Specify your minimum budget.

Just say your budget is $10k. If you say that, and someone has a site they want to sell for $7k, they will ask for 8-9k because it's still under your budget.

Now say you only want to bother looking at sites for over $2k, if you publicly state that, that same seller with the 7k site will ask for $7-8k

So I assume you're looking to buy some sites? ;)

Yes I am looking for some sites.

    Min 20K uniques, no forums.
Lets say that my budget is around $2000.00 :)

That much traffic from PPC alone would not be worth it I guess. It would be too expensive for the seller.

And once I have a site name I would do a little looking around before I actually buy it.

"Most sites I see here don’t give that kind of info."

Many sites dont show that info in there sale post, but if you are interested in buying you then request those details and maybe put a script of your choice on the site for a couple of days so you can check the stats yourself.

I though you said "medium size". Don't mean to put you down but that's chicken sh*t to many people.

Sites change hands anywhere from $0 to millions of dollars. $2,000 is a lot closer to $0 than it is to the frequent $20K/$30K sites that sell in the various site for sale forums.

I wouldn't go raising people's expectations of your budget by saying "medium" when you are talking about only $2,000. It will work against you.

If you look at the thread you will see where the $2000.00 comes from.
I really don’t think that telling people how much I have will help me at all.

Yes I have a certain budget, but I would rather see what is on offer first.

That was also the purpose of this thread to ask how I would go about looking for such a site. I doubt that flashing cash around will get me a good deal.

"Medium" is relative. To some people medium might mean $100 or even $10. To others medium can be a few million or more

How could you check if the stats of a site is manipulated ?
Like I read about links back to the site (they put it on all forums and ffa or even other TEMPORARY methods)..

    Interested to know :)

So why do you think I raised proximity?

In any case that is irrelevant if $2K is not the figure he's looking at and he's used it purely as an example.
