The more links that you have that link directly to your site, the more opportunities there are for people to click them. Now, I'm not suggesting for a moment that you take up archery! But I am suggesting that you get as many bowmen as possible to send targeted traffic to your site. How do you know when you have enough bowmen? How many incoming links is enough? Here's a step by step process to get you the answer... 1. Choose your primary keyword and run off to your favourite search engine and run a search. 2. Identify the URL at the very top, the number one position, and copy the URL to your clipboard. 3. Now open another browser window and get to this page: http://www.link-advantage.com/popularity and paste the #1 URL from the search engine window into the search box. Don't click the "check" button just yet. 4. Go back to your search engine window and click to page two and capture the URL that is in the top of that page (#11 in the overall results). 5. The answer to the question is simple - if you already have a good google ranking, then the backlinks you've built are enough. But I agree, building links is a continuous process. Competition is always tough.
Agree with you Mrandrei. If your site is ranking well at google means at the higher position in SERPs then you've got enough backlinks but you need to continue this process for staying there.
How Do You Know When You Have Enough Backlinks? When you are number 1st for the keyword you want to rank... until then, you don't have enough
you never have enough even if you are ranking no 1 for th keyword that you want you have to remember you competitors are working hard to take that position from you so to defend it you have to keep getting more . Its hard getting to the top but staing there requires work as well.
I am stuck at 6,970 links.........trying to break 7,000. When will I stop? At 10,000... 15,000.......who knows?
there are 2 types of links like inbound and outbound llinks but links only used for mostly PR so...links not enough for your site..so keep link building as per PR calculation theory...

Pretty solid article. I'd recommend checking position #10 instead of #11 though to determine how to get on that first page!
You never have enough back links. Even when you are number one you should constantly keep on building links, you never know if your competitors will manage to outrank you. SEO is an addiction, once you start you can't stop!
