How do you know when G is going to do a PR update

I have heard a lot of talk of the latest update, but how do you know when it is being done? Are they done on a set timescale or when they feel like it and is it done over a period of days/weeks or all at once?
Sorry if these are regular newbie questions!!

 

you know when they are about to update cos we get a blue moon, and shooting stars all nite long.

 

You see threads hundreds of posts long in a very short time. Even that is not a guarantee a PR update is going on.

 

I hear you can tell by cutting the liver from a goat and looking for spots on the liver that spell:

"PR Updates don't matter move on with your life"

It's a dead give away. Now where's my goat?

it's always nice to see the green bar actually "green" and not grey

 

Usually after the fourth thread on DP that states it's started.

In all honesty, nobody outside of google know when the toolbar is updated.

 

Looks like I've touched a nerve!! I'll shut up about PR updates then, sorry! Our site is only 6 months old and I'm eager to know if my hours of hard work doing stuff I really have no idea about, are working!!

 

How can you get those Page Rank images for your website? Instead of using the google toolbar in firefox.
