In Yahoo if you have only 1 (or less) pages indexed (except for brand new sites) it is generally believed that there is some sort of ban on your site. How do you know in Google if you are banned? Does Google keep the pages from a banned site in its index? (site:www.site.com)
If you have any pages indexed you are not banned. If you dont have any pages indexed that doesnt mean you are banned. If you dont have any pages indexed for a long period of time you can assume you are banned if you done something wrong.
There is a difference between a ban and a penalty by both google and yahoo - although both can give you the same results. I have had some sites which have gone from having thousands of visitors per month referred to zero- yet the sites remained fully indexed and the bots visited daily. A penalty isn't permanent and depending on what triggered it, it can be lifted in as little as 2-3 weeks if you fix what was causing. I still can't be sure what was done to get the penalties in my situation, but I didn't rank for even for the most obsure keywords- and this happened on sites which were over 5 years old. I changed everything I thought could have caused it and eventually traffic returned. Nothing I was doing was considered "black hat SEO (hidden text, redirects, cloaking, etc) and probably had something to do with over optimization - either too many links too fast, or something on page with keywords (which I fixed with gif's since the wording was really necessary).
as long as one page indexed then you are not banned but i think you should contact the guys over there, sometime you can punished for something you don't know
Let say your domain name is xyz.com. Check by entering http://www.whois.sc/xyz.com in your browser address bar. Look under the flag. If a site is banned, it will say so and when you click it, would give you the reason (spam etc)
