on the search network you can know how much certain keywords cost for good placement but how do you know how much to make you max CPC for strictly the content network?
Make it a lot lower than for search. If you're paying 50 cents on search, try 25 cents on the content. If that doesn't get traffic, then raise the bid. If it does get traffic, then gradually lower your CPC every day by a penny or two until the traffic drops off.
vesparich is right, there's pretty much no way to estimate costs, all you can do is try and then adjust according to the results.
Yeah as the others said keep it low. Content conversions are always a lot lower as you lose a lot of the targeting of paid search. I would try half of your search and see how it goes. -Patz
I always switch the Content Network off! I find this solves so many problems it isn't funny! Regards, Dave.
Content Network can be VERY powerful if used right, but my advice is to turn it off as a newbie until you slowly master the search network then you start working on it
