How do you increase your google rank?

I am displayed in all search engines, as my site has been out for a while, the problem is over half of my traffic is from other sites as referal etc, which is 600-700 views. Search engine traffic organic, is about 10-20 daily which is pathetic, google says im on page 68, for certain keywords.

Now the problem is in regards to ("content is king") i dont have content, its a video site, so i just have the post title optimisation to go by, now some people have told me its next to impossible to get ranked because there is no content but there are hundreds of thousands of sites like mine that are on 1st page, but how do they do it ... ?

Last question, regarding backlinks, how can i use them to increase my page ranking for a certain keyword that the user types? so for example lets say "watch tv online" , would i create a backlink on another site saying "watch tv online, go here url.com". Would this work or is there a far better method? (i've recently bought article submision to 350 sites, it was a good article, but im yet to see its results was done a couple of days ago). Also i have read what cronical said (great stuff) but some of the stuff i believe cannot be applied twards this type of stuff where you only have embedded links to go by?

You need to get quality links from related sites, google ranks a site based on relevancy and importance

 

simple, you just need a lot of quality related backlinks....

 

Wow, a lot of these replies are really pathetic. Kudos to Canonical. It's a shame the original poster couldn't take time to get the name right. I'd right more but I am very, very busy. I'll be back.
