I'm using w3counter, Google and Yahoo Just simple type " link:www.yourdomain.com " at Google and " linkdomain:www.yourdomain.com " at Yahoo. And the result quite surprising me, Google backlink counts way much lower than Yahoo. Anyone know why ? And I use w3counter to have another look for backlinks.
Google's backlink usually ( at least in my case ) are majority internal links within my site ... many known quality BL's are missing in G, hence all G-BL result fake and totally wrong at least in my case may be no one ever told G that their backlink procedure is wrong Yahoo is quiet right and usually much higher Nr of BL - Y also has human contact for feedback - G none another accurate source is alexa - fewer than Y but mostly correct BL it's a matter of quality maybe G cares less about quality and more about quantity of traffic ?
Google does not show you all your backlinks...that's just the way it is Google tends to show a random collection of backlinks from quality sites. Plus google backlinks (the one you see) are nor updated very often...kinda like the PR update...however, google does count other backlinks while calculating where your site should be...it just doesn't update it for you to see..
For backlinks it's best to use Yahoo, then MSN, and finally Google. Many new sites don't get their BLs counted by google for months... so the big G is rather useless for this.
