I read some threads on here about someone with 7,000 back links others with many more. I know you can get picked up by lots of blogs and whatnot, but that seems like such a huge number to me. How do you get so many back links? Just posting in forums all the time with a signature? Something else? Thank you for any help.
you can use a signature in a forum, post a comment in a blog, write a good article/content in a ezine publishing, tagging into a social bookmarking, and many more that you can do to get a back link.

I've done it before when I got one of my articles front paged on digg.com. It really is a matter of luck. You need someone that is very controversial and you need to get other people to talk about it. Just look, when you read a blog and the person is commenting on someone else's article what do they do? They link to the article. That is what you want to do. I wouldn't focus primarily on getting that result. What I would do is create content that is highly valuable to the end users.

If you write about something that is popular or people have a strong opinion on it can help get alot of links fast. If you have quality content and submit site to social bookmarks and other places people will link to it.
find blogs without the nofollow tags, and write an article with a link back to your site. don't spam the blogs though, actually take the time to write a relevant article.
There are a number of programs out there that will help you to do this... Comment Kahuna is one that comes to mind... just Google it... and it's free by the way.... Linda
