Sometimes when you search for a site in Google, in the search results, there appears a bunch of links that are internal links to that site. For example, search "echemotherapy" in Google, and the first result is "echemotherapy.com". Look at all the links under it, "Types of Chemotherapy", "Side Effects", etc... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...S:official&hs=xzQ&q=echemotherapy&btnG=Search These are all links to pages inside the site. I was wondering how does one go about setting this up for their site, or if it is even possible and not a Google-unknown type of thing. Help appreciated.
Sitelinks are completely automated by google. You can remove them via webmaster tools, but you can't add them.
You explore of this explanation in the google webmaster tool. These link was consider by google as useful link, no need to setting up, google will add automatically.
I've got a site with site links. The pages selected by google are pages that have a lot of external links to them and also have a lot of links going to other places on my site. I'm guessing that google tries to find good landing pages for major categories of a site. It picks the wrong pages for my site, but hey I'll take the extra exposure anyway.
These are landing pages...you must treat every page of your site as a separate site...these pages have more relevant content and more back links...
I had been wondering about this too so I signed up to ask: is it really that simple? Just get more backlinks to sub pages?
If the links seem worng to you, just tke them out in the google webmaster tools, they will replace them with new ones. I've removed a coupe of them because they were wrong, and they found new ones, better ones...
This is the perfect answer. It took my site SearchBliss 7 years for sitelinks to show. It used to be more of a sign of authority, but now I'm seeing more sites with it then ever before.
They are automated by google, but I fail to see the logic used to pick sites that qualify. Of all the domains I own, only 2 have sitelinks and they are not the strongest when it comes to PR and backlinks. On page factors might count as much and even more than PR and backlinks. A healthy mix of the three might be the correct formula though.
Google always keep on updating there search engine and site links are an important part, however good for you
If Google thinks that a particular site needs to be detailed more categorically, it does so by this way. It's entirely their judgment. Usually this happens if a site has numerous pages and a proper site-map. You can get an explanation about this in Google webmaster tools.
This is true. Google's algo does this to help searchers find what they're looking for easier on larger sites. I noticed with my site's sitelinks, they have chosen the URL that are most visited on my site. Why? So when people search for SearchBliss (which according to Google Analytics happens anout 100-200 times a day), the result gives them the sitelinks they are most likely looking for, allowing them to bypass the home page.
These are called the sitelinks, they are generated automatically by google. You site have to be one year old at least, and your site must have excellent internal linking.
I don't think it has to be 1 year old, it has happened with a lot of my newer sites as well. So its automated.
