The best way to get started with Google Adwords is to use its Keyword Suggestion tool, which can be found at the Adword homepage. Type any keyword you have in mind and see how much traffic volume such keyword gets in a month and in a year. From there, you'll have an informed decision how you're going to format your ad title. I don't recommend Overture, by the way.

Yes, as above, Google's very own Keyword Tool is the best - and it's free!

Also, learn how to structure your account properly - i.e how many keywords to put in each adgroup and which adgroups they belong to. Also, how to split campaigns down into the right adgroups.

Getting the structure right, is vital in order to be successful on Adwords.

    Yeah...

    Totally agreed with you...

Just start with keyword suggestion tool of Google Adwords...

It provides so many facilities too... like competitiveness of your keyword, related keywords, Month in which highest traffic occurs for your keywords and many more other facilities...

So its good to start with Googles Adwords - keyword suggestion tool for keyword research...

The best way to get started with AdWords is to read the learning center. Don't start unless you know what you're doing, or you'll lose a lot of money and get no results.

    I agree with ButlerPatches...

If you don't have a clue the AdWords learning center is a great place to start. They also have a lot of videos explaining what AdWords is all about.

Spend a day or so going through everything. Please, please do not dive into adwords in a high volume market. You will get "burnt", and probably pack it in. I nearly did.

Make sure you start 'smallish' and then scale up, especially if you're in a high volume market.

    Best regards,

So, keyword tools that actually cost money aren't all they are cracked up to be? I understand the value of keyword permutation tools, but I guess I shouldn't shell out any of my hard-earned money for a keyword research tool since Google's own software suffices?

Get a good keyword source. Keyword Elite is worth the investment in my mind.

I'd have to say reading a lot about Adwords beforehand.
All sorts of eBooks and guides out there. You will get the starting knowledge from that and hopefully you'll have some kind of a starting plan in your head on how to put your ads and what to do to make it work.

Also, at first it can seem very frustrating, but it is part of the process. In the beginning you can lose money with your ads, but that's part of testing and you should always keep an eye, change things and test again.

I agree.. go with the Keyword Suggestion tool but its not going to tell you everything. You have to know your product and target market first.

Google's free keyword tool will show you how much traffic you can get from a keyword, but also how much competition each keyword has. So, you can find the low hanging fruit by looking for keywords without much competition. They may not have as much traffic, but if you get a lot of these keywords, you will pay less per click with not as much competition. Hope this helps.
