    On one of my websites, PSA ad comprise at least 20% of the Adsense ads. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of them. Does anyone have any tips?

    Do show up, write a little paragraph containing the keywords for that page.
    Put it below the psa ads if possible.
    Should in short order get rid of the psa ads.

    Or as I found out, it could be that google just does not have any ads at present that fit your keywords or page.
    Strange but true.

    If you want real ads, iowadawg is correct.

    but if you question is as titled, you can setup your ads not to show PSA's. It is in the content ad wizard of G's AS.

    use section targetting too. but the google comment code around the part of the text that you want ads for. I haven't tried it, but seems to work.

    This takes a few hours or even days to work. As long as your site is indexed alot by google then it should show less and less PSA's.

    There are two ways to get rid of public service ads

    adding this line to the javascript code:
    google_alternate_ad_url = "http:// other.url.com";
    Code (markup):
    or this other:
    google_alternate_color = "FFFFFF";
    Code (markup):
    the first displays ads or messages hosted where you specify, the second just fills the area with a background color instead of PSA's

    both lines generated by your google control panel if selected there ;)

    I've setup a free service for this too called www.defaultads.com. Basically, you can load in different ads like affiliate ads, text ads, etc. Then, you generate the alternate_ad_url to include in your adsense code. When a PSA would normally appear, the call is made to defaultads.com, which displays the ads you loaded instead. It's free, so give it a shot. I just use 1 out of every 100 alternate ads to display my own affiliate links.

    I think this can be easily done.

    let's say you create your codes in the adsense site (the adsense setup tab), when you reach "Choose Ad Format and Colors", you will see below this message:

    Alternate ads or colors
    Choose what to display if no relevant ads are available.

    the default is "Show public service ads"

    but you can set it to:

    Show ads from another URL
    Fill space with a solid color

    hope that helped. :)
