I just can not seem to get google to like my site. Unfortunately I do well at yahoo and msn but google ignores my site. Yesterday I had 15 hits from search engines only 4 from google the rest from yahoo/msn.

The site is less than a year old -9months-, is this the problem? is a just a matter if waiting? yahoo picks up 170 backlinks, google i had a few but now none.

Its only a pr1 right now have been trying to work a link building but i noticed some other the sites that rank well only have 4/5 links.

    any opinions welcome, thanks

Did you check Google Webmaster Tools?

There you share information about your blog directly to Google and Google shares the information they have about your blog back to you. You can see how Google crawls and indexes your blog, you can see how your blog is indexed and which of your blog pages are included in the Google index.

Submit your sitemap there and let Google tell you what they see or what problems they encounter, that is always my first step in getting ranked with Google.

    Hello,

As the above replied, do signup for a Google Webmaster Tools account and check your backlinks there. The reason for not ranking in Google might be the fact that the links didn't age enough for Google to consider them valid backlinks and add them to the value of your website.

Also, although I don't think that's the case, if your links were bought or obtained trough BlackHat SEO (like buying or linking schemes) google already penalized your website for those links.

Also Google weights each links better if it's coming from an "on topic" website/page, and way less if it's from an off-topic location. How much less, enough that the 170 backlinks don't mean enough to get u ranked.

Do you have quality back links? You just need 1 really good link to get indexed and start ranking.
