I have been trying to get a PR of atleast ONE No luck. How many links do you need to get a PR one? Im assuming you link to a PR 3-4 site. The problem with linking is the daming affect. No PR gets passed cause all the PR sites have tons of outound links. Sucks
How long have you been trying and what have you done to promote your site? Now it sounds like "my car isn't running fine, what's wrong with it?".
How old is your domain name? If it is less than 3 months old you are unlikely to get a PR even if an update came tomorrow. Jim
If You'll read a lot of papers about PR algorithm You'll know that a one can get PR7 with one or two links ;-) But why do You care anyway?
What? That's not true. Brand new site. You get a link from a PR7 site with an average amount of other links, say 20. Site gets crawled then indexed a week later. Google PR comes out 8 days after the site is created and WHAMMO! you've got a PR5 - PR 6 site. It all depends on the incoming links for PR, and when that PR shows on the toolbar simply depends on when G does an update. Could be a week could be 4 months.
I care because google uses PR to help determine placemnt and such and I realize that to get more traffic I need PR. But it seems had to get. Just looking for tips people here have used to get any PR. Before I ran 'mini sites' selling eboks and such but they got boring since they dont get many visitors or activity with those sites. I am tryingto build a website with traffic you see. My domains are less han three months so I guess Ill have to wait longer.
To clarify, according to Matt Cutts, the Google algorithm will treat new sites (domains) from certain industries in a way which could be perceived as being sandboxed. Jim
quick guide - write articles with good content and distrubute them, directories, maybe get inbound links from your associate websites etc... this will easily get you your much sought after PR1! gOOD lUCk!
Yeah - sorry wasn't much of a clarification was it! Here is my source hxxp://www.webmasterworld.com/forum30/32067.htm Hope it's ok to post another forum's link here! Jim
I dont know if you can get a PR6 that easily But the PR5 most definelty could happen from that, Ned try to submit to directories in the solicitation forum use this tool it makes it quite easy, I did an experiment with a site to see if I could get a pr4 atleast with just 50 subscriptions to free directories, I will tell what happens but the predictor tools seem to be saying it will be a PR5 so I expect atleast a PR3, also try formalating the site link structure so that more links are pointing to the frontpage then the subpages that might squeeze out some pr for you, allthough I dont like to do that. Good Luck but a PR1 should be quite easy...
Please check this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=531950 Let me know your views on this.
Good luck with pr1, when i tryed I just couldn't do it =( i went from n/a to a pr of 2, just couldn't do pr1... also, emil2k, what directorys would you suggest ?
one of my sites was laucnhed in October 2, 2005 I got about 10 recip links, 20 from artilces, and after the Jagger the site got PR 4, another one launched 2 weeks later! with 10 or so backlinks got PR 3. But they both were linked from our oldest (almost 4 years) website from the beginning.
I did this test last year and came up with PR4's, so you're right in the ballpark. Except, hmmm... I think I submitted to a lot more than 50 directories. I submitted to every directory I could find.
