A cheap cruise? ABSOLUTELY! We are going on cruses at least once a year because of the good rates. Trust me, you need to go on a cruise now, right now, to get the best rate. Book your itinerary like 1-2 months before the cruise ship leaves to get the best rate. If you try to plan a cruise vacation like 1 year in advance, you'll get high rates. Cruise ships are always trying to fill up their ships, so they sell their tickets like 70% off the month of the cruise to fill up the rooms. This is the perfect time to buy. When you are ready to go on the cruise, pick a month and then exactly 30 days prior to the day you want to leave find a cruise line and buy your family the tickets. We do this all the time, same goes for the excursions on the ships. Do not prepay for the excursions as you will pay 300% higher rate than what the locals charge.
If you want travel without spending too much, BACKPACKING is the way to go. You gotta read the tips in Wikitravel. Don't purchase any travel package for it costs more than the usual trip.
You could stay in corner of some streets and beg people for money. This way in one month you should be on yr to achieve yr goal.
I usually wait for flight deals. JetBlue is always good. They offer package deals with hotels sometimes.
