Most SEO gets your homepage ranking, but homepages don't really convert. How would you get your sales page to rank, other than buying links? For example, for the query 'seo book', aaron wall's sales page comes up indented after his homepage. In addition, his tools page comes up following that. How can you go about getting other pages besides your homepage ranking? (Without spamming and inserting your page on a trusted domain, like people ranking for 'cheap viagra' by inserting pages on .edu )? Thanks for the info!
No real secret to it. Get lots of links to that specific page. Also make sure your internal linking scheme is well put together.

Yes make the content on the sales page superior to that on your home page, add internel anchor links as well as drive anchor text links to that page. One ways only... reciprocals are a waste for the most part. It's easier to focus energy on one high value one way link than ten recips.... PS Its not really SEOs who decide which page is displayed but rather the SE itself
