Its strange... my business sometimes is on the Google Places list for certain keywords..... For the past 3-4 months it has been, and Ive been enjoying great traffic from it, phone calls, its great However in the last few days.... my listing disappeared from the Google Places list This has happened in the past, where it would disappear for months.. then return for momths... and disappear again Does anyone know what I can do to stay on the Google Places list? For instance.. search: Boston real estate for sale I was usually at "A" ... now its dropped off... How do I atleast stay on A-G??
Also Im surprised I cant find much info on this subject.... these Google Places maps are important... It almost seems that Google lists places at random... there must be a way to always be listed for a particular keyword!
Our business is always at #1 but we're a bit unique. Not many businesses in the area, we have a Yellow Pages (ie, paid) listing, and we have the lowest alphabetical business name so we pop straight to the top. Doesn't mean much work though, there's not many people in our area either and that limits the amount of work we get straight away. But we get a surprising amount of referrals from interstate IT businesses (ie, ISPs) with clients in our area who find us first, and various interstate businesses trying to sell us b2b crap we don't need because we're such a small shop.
First follow these guidelines http://www.google.com/support/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=107528&rd=1 Then, get business reviews on location based directories like Google Maps itself, Yelp and CitySearch.
What's Panda? No mine is about 80% complete... Strange thing is.... I am coming up on some keywords..... for Boston real estate For instance onces related to condos, and apartments..... Its just nice when I come on the map for ALL of them... but its strange sometimes im on sometimes im off I need to finish my profile, I think I have to put a photo in ... Im around 80%
Panda is a new way of google to filter copy cats and to give ranking to those who are providing unique content. Did you use copied content on your website? may be this could be the reason, you lost the rank. Because Panda Update has effected many websites and its implemented completely, whole over the world..!
Well first of all.. the website is unique The 2nd thing is... I still come up #1 on the map for SOME similar keywords Like for an example, I will use different words.. I no longer come up for: Orange cars for sale Instead, I come up for: Orange vehicles for sale Yellow cars for sale Basically they are real estate keywords where before I was coming up on 50% of the maps..... then it dropped to about 20% of the maps... then went back up to 50% of the maps..... now im back down to about 20% of the maps I wonder if Google does any rotations randomly to be fair and even??? There is, however.. SPAM sites listed on the Google Maps which I find strange
Google doesn't like you. Google likes back links a lot and often puts pages with more authority back links higher ranking. They constantly check your site, so if something is bad you get lower. Unique content is key as well.
VOnline you don't seem to know what's going on in this discussion.... or are mistaken.... this discussion is about Google Places (not organic Google ranking) Google Places is when you come up on a map.. for instance, search Los Angeles cars for sale Notice how a PLACES map shows up.. This is different from organic Google search
Couple of things are a must: Address, telephone number on site local citations- Yelp, yellow pages, city search four square, any local directories or classifieds, As many reviews as possible backlinks 100% completed google paces profile
Fluctuations may happened, but you will work on continuously on your site, try to build as many as possible back links, you will get your results soon..
Yeah I will continue to work on the site and would never try to manipulate the Google Places like these clowns do.... By the way... lets all get out there and make some money !!!!!!!!!!
With the new Google Places merged algo that happened on Oct. 27th, your organic SEO ranking plays the biggest part of all. That and citations. But reviews don't carry quite as much weight. I have lots of clients that rank #1 with 1 or 2 reviews against competitors that have 150 reviews. There are around 50 factors that weigh into the Google Places algo but on-page SEO optimization is the most important, local hooks are 2nd. Backlinks aren't as much of an issue.
