    Hello,

I have seen members here reporting high amount of traffic to their site like 40k, 100k per day. Now how do you generate so much traffic? I know all the usual tricks like submitting to directories, digg, stumble upon etc. Leaving commenst in other blog and such. But I want first hand experience from the members. How did you do it for your site? Whats the secret?

Seo and page rank. You have to find good keywords and build site that gets links. The more links the better your traffic.

There are no SEO programs who can promise to deliver "top 10 ranking in Google" or other search... It is mainly hard work and linking

Try looking at the top of this page and clicking on the "Search" link. There are thousands of posts here than answer this question already.

From what I understand the better the page rank, the better is your position in the search results when people search for your keywords, which means more SE traffic.

First rule of thumb, theredgiant is to not believe in everything you read or hear on how many hits a site gets.

Just about all (NOT ALL) of these blowhards are either trying to sell you an e-book, or they are just looking for attention.

Second rule of thumb is that there are no "secrets" in getting lots of traffic.

Johnchow.com started out with pay per click ads and Digg. Word of mouth took over.

It ain't that hard. You just have to have a nice site, work it, be positive, don't fall for scammers and spammers, and keep at it.

I used to use Google Adwords religiously but the return was not enough. At the peak of my usage, I was paying out over $200 per day and bringing back half of that :(

If you want to try it again, this time show your ads and site to others for critique. Would they click on that ad? Would they buy from you?

Once you have the green light, try it again. Spend under 10 cents a click.

Yes PR does effect ranking. Very much so.

    But

So does the domain name and age of the domain.

Let's say you have 2 sites that sell widgets.

    Site 1:

    abcdirectory .com (PR5) , registered 2004

    Site 2:

    widget-world .com (PR3) , registered 2003

It is possible, even with a lower PR, site 2 could win in the SERPS due to keyword in the domain name and date the domain was registered.
