make sure your site is properly optimized and have unique content. then focus on getting higher ranking on major search engines for your desired keywords. higher you rank on your keywords, better traffic you get. link building is an important step towards higher ranking so put together a solid link building campaign for the next few months. how many backlinks you will need will depend on how your competition is. social media marketing can also drive some instant traffic to your site but those traffic usually are low converting.

I would advise natural search engine traffic, to gain this i would suggest great content that usually gets some long tail searches without backlinks. Building backlinks for keywords for your site will increase serps and traffic, slowly and gradually for your site. For immediate traffic, i dont know. Theres a difference between safe traffic and traffic that may have you returning a few months down the line to say that your adsense account is closed.
I would recommend traffic from search engines and article directories because they convert very well. Traffic from social bookmarking sites simply bleach your bandwidth. Stay away from them.
