do they take it out automatically or do you have to manually make payments each month?

They will take it automatically from your credit card each month.

do you think that i should just pick the websites i want my ad to appear or do you think i should pick keywords? i am new so im not really sure. i dont run an ecommerce site, just forums and just looking for new members so i am not interested in having people buy things so what do you think?

Here's the deal. If you pick websites, you may blast through thousands of impressions w/o one click and end up with a big bill. However, if you choose keywords you will only be charged if people click on your ads. Use keywords.

Also, consider by buying ads directly from the websites you want to target. It might be cheaper.

Credit card. Automatically hitting your bank account sounds like a terrible idea

I would recommend learning a little bit more about it before you start. I first started with knowing very little and ended up burning over $300 without anything to show for it. :-/ pm me if you want some recommendations

I usually do manual credit card payments, just so i don't get smacked down with a HUGE Adwords bill with no profits or sales to show for it. I use memotome.com as a reminder service to put some money into it every Friday, works wonders since that program just emails your reminders to you. Plus if i'm tight 1 week, I don't have to put much money into it, if I don't want to.
