Hi All Tis difficult enough driving traffic to my content sites, or ecomerce sites that can be submitted to directories , an participate in a few link exchanges, But how do you organically market,, an ebay based affiliate site? I am curious cos i'am interested, PPC is quite risky right now
If you want to organically market an ebay based product as an affiliate, I would highly suggest you look into Search Engine Optimization a little deeper. Without it, your 'organic' marketing campaign won't earn a single dime and you'd be better off dumping a few thousand into Solo Ads. Mark
@ Ebay affiliates Is there a recognised script for creating an ebay list of a specific widgets? For example, i once saw a site selling I think Cadillacs, and they had what looked like list of individual, cars for sale.
PPC can be expensive if you just buy the main, expensive keywords. But if you buy specific nich key phrases than it can be cheap. For instance if you are selling shoes and you bid on "Buy Shoes" then you will be paying a hi price for every click. But if you bid on "Black high heels with gold buckle sale" then you wil be paying MUCH less. Granted you will get less traffic, but you will get more TARGETED traffic rather than every person who just types in "Shoes" and is just browseing around. Follow??
Article submission and press release are two free and effective methods, submit 2 articles each week if possible
I've also been using Buildaniche store. Add some text content for targeted traffic keywords. I've been doing this to create sites around a theme with keyword targeted pages. Text content matches the ebay products. My sites are only a few months old but I have been seeing a rise in keyword ratings and have been making some money with ebay and adsense.
If your serious about affiliate marketing then PPC is a must. Of course, SEO your site as this is good practice and will help in SERP's in the long run but how do you know your site will sell? Its no good waiting 9 months to get some good rankings on competetive terms only for your site not to convert. I make a site, split test with an adwords campaign then wait for about 500 ish clicks. If I get a reasonable ROI (over 75%) then I will buy links and build for the future. Then move onto the next niche.
I agree with MWD PPC is a must. You will get instant feedback for the product compared to weeks with organic traffic. Also organic traffic is competitive too because you have to stay on the first page of the serps for your keyword.
To date, all PPC has lost me money, even where i managed to sell, the cost of getting to even page 2 for google ppc is prohibitive, yes I am now exploring the other keywords, ,,, yet free SEO traffic would be nice
I'm not sure if I'm following. What's 'split test'. Also, where are you determining your ROI? Analytics or AdWords? Thanks! hanji
What I found frustrating is my poor PPC skill. ROI is super low... too low to even keep it in camping. And yes, keywords and descriptions are very relevant. Same content on site actually sells. (I've sold some from organic traffic) My 80% traffic is from organic. 80% income is from PPC.
Split test is when you run several adword ads under a main group. I run about 5, give it a few days or a certain amount of clicks then take out the worst 3 performing, that leaves the best 2. I then look at these closely and decide what on these ads made them outperform the others. Was it the title or a catchy phrase in the description? You can use AWSATS or google analytics. When were people clicking on your ads and what were they looking for? I think a good tip to start with is to use "exact match" in adwords for a small group of keywords. That way you wont burn through money but at the same time you will still get a feel for how adwords performs. My return on revenue is simple. How many sales I make per so many clicks or even a time period. Sometimes its best to leave a campaign run for a week so you can gauge other factors like "do week days out perform weekends?" I find ebay items do not really pay enough to sustain a ppc campaign. 40% commission on what Ebay makes is a low amount. Remember most people want a bargain on Ebay. Other people probably make a good living on PPC from Ebay. I dont and I see more profitable niches somewhere else, but Ebay is fantastic for specifics or for just creating a whole site around one topic.
On average I think that my ROI on search is around 100%, though I run some campaigns that get much lower, and some that get much higher returns. I managed to get 1000% ROI during the holiday season for one campaign, too.
