What is the "competition" field in google keyword research tool ? Is it for ppc competition or organic ? If it is not for organic, then how do you find the keyword competition for organic results optimization?

It is the ppc competition, i.e. how many advertisers are going for that keyword. If you are building niche sites it will give an indication of the spending power in the market. If there are lots of adverts theres money in the market. Part of my kw research involves looking at this data and also checking the number of adverts on the serps.

Hello I have here a copy of an article that may help you.

The first thing you need to know is that there are two different types of competition.

    1. The first one is for PPC, and it basically measured by how much the suggested bid is for the keyword to get a top spot in paid advertising. You could pay 5 cents for a click on the lowest side, or you could pay as much as $30 for a click on the competitive side.

    2. The second one is organic search competition. This is basically how much competition you have when you are trying to rank for your keyword in the regular search results.

The next thing you need to know is that these two types are not interchangeable. If you are trying to rank your site in organic search results, it does very little good to know that the keyword is highly competitive as a PPC bid. The keyword can be high on PPC and at the same time the sites connected to it maybe very poorly optimized.

Measuring the keyword competition for organic search is not so well defined as the PPC. I will go over some of the ways people do this.

    1. The number of websites Google's search brings up for the keyword. This is highly inaccurate as measurement.

    2. The number of websites Google's search brings up for the keyword when searched for in quotes. This is somewhat better, and can identify some niches when it is low, but otherwise it is not accurate. You can use it though as a starting point.

    3. Page Rank or average Page Rank of the search result page. This can give an idea if the Page Ranks are low, but it is a very rough estimate.

    4. You can only tell how competitive a keyword really is if you actually try it. However I can tell you the factors to consider if you want to get closest to the truth.

    a. How many links the overall URL has including all its sites
    b. How many backlinks the site itself has
    c. How closely the search result URLs match your keyword (main URLs count more than deeper sites)
    d. How closely the search result pages title match your keyword
    e. The number and quality of backlinks to the site and the anchor text of these links.

A combination of these factors tells what you can expect. :)

Google's keyword tool shows the Adwords advertisers competition and not the organic competition. Use quotes "keyword" in Google's regular searchengine searchbox. But it's not really important, your competition is Google's 1st page of the SERPs, it doesn't matter if it's 100 or 10 million competing sites. Download the free version of TrafficTravis, MarketSamurai or SeoQuake addon (if using Firefox) to get the real picture.

I am an internet entrepreneur doing SEO research for the past two years currently working on my search website
    sharedsearch.isgreat.org

Please don't trust Google's Keyword tool as it will mislead you, for proof consider my case study

I am going to reveal my personal case study with Google's Keyword tool, it will surprise you when you come to know the truth.

My website gameparadise.freehostia.com ranks on the top google search results for the keyword phrase "game paradise" ( you might notice fluctuations when you check).

Upon checking the above mentioned keyword phrase in Google's Keyword tool and performing an exact match search I get about 1600 searches per month, but on the other hand my google analytics reports are telling me that my per month visits regarding that particular keyword is only 80, which is a big difference.

When I researched for the same keywords using Semrush's keyword tool. Visit here: semrush.com/?ref=551437983 I really got what I am actually getting that is, Semrush gave the true result that the keyword is actually being searched 80 times monthly which is the actual fact.

So please take good precaution before you use google keyword tool for your online marketing campaigns
My case study is a big proof, please share yours if you have encountered any

Found this great mini gaming website to share:
