How do you find the best converting products to promote?

How do you find the best converting products to promote for seo or reviews?

It looks like the popular and high gravity products tend to disappear quickly and low gravity ones may not sell that well.

Look for something that has a high gravity, and has lasted a longer period of time. One example is the product in my signature.

Also, you can try and bank on the non-IM products that are rising in gravity, those are usually pretty profitable without too much competition.

You can really know how well a product converts until you try it. Even high gravity products can convert poorly, and sometimes you can find lower gravity ones that convert well.
When I promote products, I usually go for the ones with high gravity, they usually convert but are competitive.

Look for health and energy products that will be around forever. Find high popularity and high gravity, and start doing conversion testing. Low gravity can work, just have to test it to see how it produces with your traffic source.

Edit: wrote at the same time as Ripped, sorry for lame repeat.

thanks, I checked with the accumulated gravity over past 12 months, that seems like a reasonable metric. I use cb-analytics.com for the stats - any idea if that's the official CB site? I'm actually surprised as it looks like there are considerably less popular products on CB than I thought, so maybe this site doesn't list them all?

Your product looks good, but doesn't really fit my site's theme (first link in my siggy - what do you think of the review quality?)

do you really get that much traffic? as measured by Compete.... what you asking for help for if so :p I struggle to get that traffic, and I've seen big authority sites with less traffic.... what am I missing :p

CB-Analyitics is not official, there isn't an official source like this, but that cbengine.com and of course nichejunky.com are the 3 main CB stats sites online, all accurate. But as stated above there isn't really a way to know conversion rate for sure, even someone elses conversion rate with a product will differ from your conversion rate with it - best to split test a few products against each other then drop the ones that dont work, and gradually build up a portfolio of sites that work for you.

Yeah it's a popular blog, but most of the traffic is for web design and similar related topics, which don't pay much. I've only recently started adding posts on IM topics. They rank almost instantly in Google due to the high authority on the site, but there aren't many sales, so I'm wondering what I was doing wrong here.

To actually make decent money with Clickbank, you NEED highly targeted traffic. Most of the time, if you have visitors interested in web design and then promote a SEO guide on your website, it won't convert that well.

I would consider promoting hosting affiliate programs - from what I remember HostGator.com pays something like $50 per referral...that is something all designers need and it's easier to make $50 selling a $10 hosting account then a $75 ebook.

New posts rank for the product name and product name + review, so this is rather targeted traffic.
There are some hosting ads, but they dont get sales. That's a good idea though I might add some hosting reviews there.

Okay fair enough, but the problem with that is that most CB product names don't get many searches (except the most popular ones).

    Hosting reviews should work well.

yeah I picked that up too. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe some more general IM keywords will bring more targeted traffic, like "best article spinner", "autoblog creator" or stuff like that. Basically the reason why I decided to try this is that there are many review sites that just review the top CB products and rank well for the product names and they get lots of traffic.
I'll try some hosting reviews, will probably be harder to rank but possibly more traffic.

Hosting is a really competitive market to enter FYI.

Also you should be offering something to your visitors to subscribe and build a relationship with them, just make sure its something worthwhile or it will give a -ve perception of your ability and influence their perception of your site / reviews.

It boils down to trial and error. Most people may say go after the high gravity products but that is so wrong.

Gravity has nothing to do with conversions. And if you test for yourself, you wil find that some of the high
gravity products conversions are really horrible.

Best for you to find something that you can put some passion in and you enjoy writing about. That way,
your visitors will be more convinced to buy and you will get higher conversions.

HI DM, I would always stick to evergren products, like health and hobbies.

Dont look to much into clickbank statistics, its much better to set a campaign up, let it run, tweak it and analyse the results.

Internet marketing is a lot about trial and error.

    regards, LASSE

Affiliate marketing is not easy, lot of trial and error, frustrating at times but never boring.

good post indeed, thanks for the link! Now the question remains how she finds those low gravity well converting products. And don't tell me by trial and error, there are thousands of products on CB, can't go and try them all.

The best way is to find as hungry a niche as you can and then a perfect match for the need.

Gravity does not mean that much - for instance I have a few products that have low gravity but do very well via direct selling.

I would say look more at the website and ask yourself if you would buy the product and which website you would pick.

Pick an awesome niche with real hunger there for a solution, and then a perfect fit and you will have cracked it.

Gravity is just a number - and gives you an indication of how popular the niche is on Clickbank as well as how many affiliates are jumping on.

Just my 2 pence - but Alexa sums it up well too :)

Thanks for the note Chris, the topic I'm after here is anything related to making money online as that's what fits my site. This is prob the biggest niche on CB.

What things do you usually pay attention to when picking products to promote? Besides the gravity.
Sales letter is obviously important, but I can't really say if it'll convert well or not by just looking at it.

OK, if it was a MMO product, or any product for that matter the sales letter is EVERYTHING!

You of course can't tell for sure if it will convert well just by looking at it - but I would say to spend some time with it.

Become the customer, load up your browser and go to the sales page you are thinking of promoting - read through it all, every word.

    Would you buy it?

Is there any proof that it works?

    Does it 'pull you in'?

Buy the product so you can do a proper review, use the product and then do a landing page with a video on there showing REAL results using the system.

Get creative with it and give 100%!

If it does not sell or convert - rinse and repeat with another MMO product and you WILL get one that converts!

    Hope this helps.
