View the link in the HTML source code of the page. Nofollow links have rel="nofollow" or rel="external, nofollow" in them.

Right click on the link, select properties.

If you can see "nofollow" or "external nofollow" in link attributes, then it is nofollow.

If you don't see any of the above attributes on the link, then it is dofollow.

It is easy if you use Firefox and install SearchStatus plugin (you need set, highlight nofollow links), so whenever you browse any page using firefox, nofollow links will be highlighted. Dofollow links will not be highlighted.

I used the NoDoFollow add on though i had to down grade my mozilla fox as the 3.6 update did not work with the add on.

Thank you all for you replies.

A backlink is an active (clickable) link to your website from another website - preferably with one who has high PR-value. For this to be considered a 'quality' backlink, those links must be 'dofollow' links. Do follow links are those which Google and other search engines will follow when spidering the website which contains your link. They follow the link to your website and spider your website as well and log into their little spider brains that you were recognized by the other site, giving you a 'feather in your cap' reputation wise.

When you right click on the site and then on 'view page source', instead of searching for the do follow attribute, simple hit control key and F at same time. Then type 'dofollow' in the box-it will take you to it IF it is there.

Is there any was to create a NoFollow link in Dreamveawer without going into the code view? I checked my links and there is no "NOFOLLOW" in te source code view... so I assume the link is automatically a "DOFOLLOW" link even though there is not "DOFOLLOW" text in the source code right?

View the source. Their will usually be a meta tag ordering all links on the page to be nofollow (in the <head> section. Or check a link on the page, if it doesn't have rel=nofollow in it, then the site is probably dofollow for almost all if not all links.
