I'm having a tough time on choosing a brandable domain name for my tech articles and tutorials site.

I am wondering what kind of process do you use to come up with a brandable name.

That's a good question. I would assume you'd want it to be relatively short.

One way: Look up short domains to get your inspiration. If they're selling a brandable name for cheap, it may be a route that you want to take.

The shorter your domain name, the easier it will be for people to remember it... Try to combine common common words with creativity (and some imagination) to come up with the best domain name possible. Also, remember to keep the domain name unique, so no one will mistaken it for a similar domain/site.

    Take for example TechieTuts.com

I just read your requirements and asked myself... What's the thing that will be published on the site? answer - tutorials (tuts)... Who's gonna read them? - A technical person is most likely to be interested in these tuts --> A techie

    And that's how TechieTuts.com was born! ;)

Hope this method helps you in finding your domain name...

Yeah catchy and short is a must, but don't think too hard as you'll begin to get frustrated. Maybe jot down some names that jump out at YOU personally, and go from there?
