How do you feel about Anheuser Bush getting bought out?

I think even Americans that don't drink beer can't help but feel a little bit of sadness knowing that Anheuser Bush was bought out by a foreign company. This buyout also includes all the popular theme parks they own like Busch Gardens and Sea World. For the past 150 years their company has been a well-known American icon like Coca-Cola. Now that its owned by a foreign company do you still think it will keep that reputation?

What are the next American icons that are going to be bought out? Nike and Coca Cola?

Theres always the hope an American company will turn around and buy it back, just like the Japanese bought out Harley-Davidson with their AMF label and made a royal mess out of it. Thankfully one of the relatives bought it back.

Well, while I do feel sad that so much of this country has been sold internationally to feed the greed that is so rampant on the corporate level, I admit to having mixed feelings about this particular sale.

The Germans and the Belgians are the best beer makers in the world and with their purchase of AB allowing them to import more of their European labels to this country it will only improve the overall quality of the selections.

True, Budweiser is the best of the big name retail American beers but that doesn't mean it holds a candle to even an average German or Belgian brew. They say they will not change Bud itself but it would probably make it a better beverage if they did use their superior knowledge of the art of beer making to create something better than a "lawnmower" beer.

Regrettably the majority of beer drinkers in this country are not interested in quality or taste, they just want to get p****d as quick as they can. For the rest of us, there is the option of some of the microbreweries' products or we can (hopefully) find a distributor who will carry a decent import.

At least they are not planning on shutting down the breweries or laying off the workers like a few car manufacturers we won't name are doing!

It's business. That's the way the business world is and in some ways I don't mind it.

Are you shitting me? Budweiser tastes like piss. I can't stand it. I didn't even hear they got bought out.

I hauled a load of Busch beer out of the plant in Saint Louis and let me tell you that place is huge. Hopefully something good comes out of it for them.

The Germans will probably make better beer. Next, hopefully the Japanese will buy GM. But if the Chinese buy Mcdonalds I'm going to be pissed.

It's not a case of whether the beer will taste better or not. It's the fact that Budweiser has been an American icon for about 150 years!

Yea this global economy I think should have some limits. It is one thing for foreign entities to buy companies but to buy american icons is downright immoral. Frankly outsourcing is immoral and should be illegal to. I think global economy has gone too far. We need to get back to being a self effecient country in the United States.

As far as I am concerned every country in the world needs to be self sufficient and the ones that don't have the means to we help out.

I think the only thing that makes AB an American icon is the fact that they place their advertisements everywhere. Let's face it, they make crappy beer for rednecks.

Not a beer drinker but was really stunned when I heard. I live right near where Rolling Rock was made (Latrobe, Pa) and A/B bought them out awhile back... figured when it happened they were buying smallers brewery's for something, but certainly never expected them to sell out.

Awhhh Glad I stick with Mr. Daniels ~ he'll always keep himself firmly planted in the US

It is interesting to see an American icon get taken over. The shareholders made out well in the short term, but I wonder what the long term effects of the A-B takeover will be.
