How do you explain what you do for a living online to others?

Im in a dillemma cause I feel like a dork telling people im a webmaster, but at the same time if i say self-employed or have an online business they want to ask what I do. Then i have to go into a long explanation. Plus I dont have a online business really, im just a ordinary webmaster, so its complicated to explain cause they don't understand google adsense and affiliate earnings etc so they don't know what i mean. I dont even want to explain it to my family.

What do you guys say you do? This is new to me cause i only recently started making enough money that I could say I do it for a living.

In real life? I don't anymore - they ask too often and I like being the star - I tell them they can do it too, and to visit my product page.

Online? I point them to the guide I wrote, link in signature, that will change their lives, as it has changed nearly 50 others' lives thus far. About 30 to be fair, as some of them haven't kept in touch as much as I like to.

Milestone topic coming soon when I hit 50 <3

LOL or maybe one could register their name as a domain name and tell them to read their Biography.

Very much I m in the same situation.

Generally I say I have internet business. Most of the people takes it as VOIP business . Its a big illegal business with goog money. Then I need to explain what I do. Ya big explanation needs. Most of them dont understand. To some I say we do outsourcing job, programming, website design etc. So I m bit in problem with that. Trying to find something easy to say so that say comprehend :)

    Hahaha...

Anyways, I'm still a teen so I don't get questions like those...

But, when people know I have sites, they ask me what do you do on them, then I tell them, I make money from them...

And then they ask me, why do you want money now at such a young age!? And I just tell them, we go to school to study, to get a good job and then get good money/income...

And I have reached the main goal in life in the first step :D

You can say you are helping companies like Google, etc. in making money. If they ask you how, tell them that their TOS doesn't allow you to disclose it. ;)

If they know me well enough they already know what I'm doing and if they don't know me well enough why would I bother telling them?

Although I'm not a webmaster for a living, I have this same problem with my job. When I tell people I'm a "UNIX Systems Administrator", they have no idea what I'm talking about (unless they are also in IT). When I became manager, I thought I'd say that I'm an "IT Manager", but people still don't know what I'm talking about. So now I just say "I work on computers". Lame.
