i want people to open it as social.yousellstuff.com rather then yousellstuff.com/social

What you are talking about is creating a subdomain. You can usually set this up inside of your hosting control panel that is provided by your web host provider.

Inside of your web hosts hosting panel. Which web host are you using?

K, i have not used them personally but there should be an icon somewhere in the control panel or a link saying something about domains or something about subdomains

You can easily use social.yousellstuff.com/admin :)
However, some hosts points the subdomain to a folder with same name. So all your content of social.yousellstuff.com will be on yousellstuff.com/social. Then you have to put admin into yousellstuff.com/social/admin

    Hope this helps you :)

Well you would just have to adjust the URL for it to fit and it should work, though depending upon the script it could cause problems...only one way to find out ;)

With .htaccess file, you can easily point a subdomain to a fold .
It is popular for the large website to have subdomains like http://images.aaa.com .
In fact, the subdomain is a fold of root directory .
You are free to use any type of URL .
