How do you do press release and news submissions?

Hi, i heard press release and news submissions can help us get a lot of targeted and relevant traffic. I have tried press release in the past. Shoot, it was expensive as hell (more than $1K) but it didn't worth it. I didn't get the traffic I should get, it was even almost completely useless.

Anyone can teach me how to get traffic from both press release and news submissions?

Your press release has to be properly written, also it's nonsense to pay for it. There's a number of awesome free press release submission services out there.

PRWeb is the only PR submission site worth paying for, the release itself must contain noteworthy news, or noone is going to pick it up.

If you are thinking that a couple of press releases with submitting them to couple more press release website will help you, then make sure that you are travelling to wrong path :(

There are millions of press releases that are submitted daily and who knows how many of them get exposure. This is why people get ahead with paid press release agencies.

It is better to write and submit your press releases not only to paid but to many free directories. This will really help you.

Unless you're really doing newsworthy stuff - like, something a larger publication will pick up, I would stick to writing articles for traffic rather than news stories.

People don't like to read your own self-serving content - they want to read something informative. I guess I don't know what you're promoting, but in general I've never found a paid press release to be worth it over a free one.

I've been a newspaper and magazine reporter for more than 15 years. Unless you are totally newsworthy you are wasting your time with mass submissions. No one will look at it unless they are already planning on writing an article about a subject that you have knowledge about and then they might want to use you as a source.

However, you can generally get some local press whereever you are at because they always need stuff and like to feature local people, but that won't do a whole lot to boost your online traffic. But it will probably help some. Plus it will give you something to build a "press kit" with and any press you do get establishes you as an authority and gives you more credibility as an "online expert" in the offline world.

In short don't mass submit. If you are going to submit to media, make it targeted and don't waste a lot of time with it.
