How do you decrease the page load time of your blog

It so happens that we wish to include a many lot of things on our sidebars, mostly javascripts that make the blog slower and slower. We wish delete them but our mind keeps telling that the gadget is interesting. The blogs that have a lot of multimedia content are even more horrible. How do you deal with this problem?

    * Try to use Gif images instead jpeg images . You can Use photoshop, paints to convert a jpeg image into Gif image.
    * Remove unnecessary Scripts ad tags from Blog.
*Try to use words to convey any message instead an Image file.
*Try to use same image uploader for your Blog.If so loading time decrease will.

What is more important?, a widget that you find interesting, or losing a visitor forever because your page took too long to load - get rid of some of them

Why do gif images load faster and how can using the same image uploader help?
Can you show me some proof for it?

Definitely, the reader is the king and the widgets are only the ministers.

    - Gif image have low size than Jpeg image file formats . So it will load more fast than other file formats and Use "Save for web" option while you save images in image editing Software.
    - If you are using Picasa for image hosting, then try to use host all images in picasa itself . It will help browser to load images fast.
    - Try to add Width, height tags for your images, it will help your browser to identify the height and width of image before loading itself.

    - Remove Unnecessary Gadgets from your Blog, for example , Some peoples use two Facebook gadgets in blogs [Both Recent activity ad Like gadgets] , make use of integrated facebook gadgets instead of it.It available in developers facebook.
    - Just Avoid URL Redirects .
    - Optimize your CSS codes.

I simply wanted to know others opinion in this matter.
I don't know if it was done intentionally but your answer sounds a bit rude.

    -Ranjith

Thanks for taking time to answer my questions
the seven tips taht you mentioned on your blog were very useful

The point about facebooks gadgets was good. According to my opinion it is sufficient if we simply add a link to our facebok account.

    hey ranjith,
i think u didn't get me properly. from your question, it seems that you're asking whether to remove the heavy sidebar widgets or keep them. and when @tiddles asked what is important to you - visitor or widgets, you said definitely visitors are more important. in reply to that i said that now that you know what is your preference, take the necessary step to remove unwanted widgets. try to understand what people are saying before trying to accuse them. i'm also here so that i can help others and can take help and learn from others.

    thanks.

Do you mean to say that hosting a blog that has too much content in terms of images and gadgets will make it slow? Is there a possibilty of the site/ blog hosted on blogger run faster when hosted on some paid server?

Well said about scripts. I see a few new bloggers over excited by these scripts and widgets and making the widgets column much longer than that of the posts.
