How do you deal with decreases in traffic on your sites?

It appears that most of the webmasters here at DP have more than 5 websites, and some of you have more than 10 or 20. How do you maintain traffic on those sites, especially from the search engines. I have multiple sites, and I have been too busy working on other things to maintain all of them.

I have noticed that Google has decreased the amount of traffic it is sending me through the search engines. Does anyone know how to combat this problem?

I usually try to manage well my time, if the traffic from Google has decreased, probably your content became old.

I have a couple sites (under 10) and I do take time to check their stats everyday, if traffic is down in one..I start an SEO campaign for that, put up good content, get better links, check my outbound links and so on..(does get kinda frustrating sometimes..but if all the other sites are doing fine, it's not much of a problem)

thats why it is always best to build up one site then when it is getting regular traffic you move on to another.

Yeah, I think I'm going to build one more website and call it quits. I've heard about guys here at Digital Point who have 70 websites, and I have no idea how they do it. You would literally have to pay someone monthly to maintain those sites.

Another problem I've noticed is relying too much on the search engines to send me traffic. It annoys me that google is sending you traffic from keywords one minute, and taking away traffic the next. I'm starting to get more interested in getting traffic from places other than search engines.

I think the best approach is to build a few sites, and spend about a grand getting a bunch of high quality backlinks, content, and directory submissions.
