I've been working extremely hard for the last week or so. Today, I feel like I can't do anything, even though I want to. There is no limit to the amount of work I need to do, but I feel mentally/physically tired, even though I get sleep. I'm inclined to believe I'm suffering from burn out. How do you guys deal with it? I hate burning out because it makes me less productive, and when you're not productive you can't make any money.
Relax your mind and soul go into park see greenary and birds with love.If there are kids around you then play with them like kids It really protects you from burn out.
So don't do anything. Relax, take it easy, lay around, sleep, have sex, watch cartoons. You can work tomorrow.
Ya the best thing to do is relax, go on a vacation. Don't go to work for a couple of days and just relax.
Exercise...Exercise man! Go cycling, jogging. Work out with weights! Catch two flies at the same time (hmm, that's the right proverb right LOL) work on your body and mind. Exercise produces endorfines in your brain so you start feeling more positive resulting in more productivity from your end. And you get ripped at the same time Plus it's overall maintenance for your body that you absolutely need. Especially with a desk job as you are a full time webmaster. So get your ass in gear and the rest will follow!! And if you would really have a full out going burn out you wouldn't be doing anything man! So prevent this by doing as i said above. If you don't... i'll come to the States especially for you and kick ya ass
A friend of mine who was a big programmer of ps2 games took lots of speed and coke, he worked for about 16 hours a day. He owns one of the first ps2s that came into the uk (serial 000000006!!!) - i bet its worth a bit. He also programmed quite a lot of tomb raider. Incidently he was also the first guy to crack the ps2 so that copied games could be played on it. Anyway, he has gone a bit mental. Conversation can quickly dry up with him. He also used to do acid which may have affected him.... ....anyway thats what not to do -gl!
go smoke a phatty lol j/k sometimes you just need to take a step back and have some "you" time, go do something you enjoy to get your spirits back up!
Weekly one holiday is tonic for me. Sunday (Holiday) is my favorite day. I eat and drink and forget all burn - out of previous week. I will sing and dance with my children while my wife is serving what we need.
Your mistake, Tesla, is pushing yourself too hard. You think that sitting in front of the computer plodding away is necessary to achieve your goals, when in fact it is proving counter-productive; the harder you push, the less you accomplish. What you need to do is (to coin a phrase), work smarter, not harder. How do you do this when you have a mountain of work to get through? Make a list. For a day. Keep it realistic and achievable. When you have done the tasks, stop and walk away from the box and find some recreational activity to do instead, so long as it isn't work. Next day, you do the same and that's what you do from then on. Since you are at burn-out stage already, make the lists small to begin with and gradually build up to a managable level. Burn-out occurs when you continually set yourself unattainable goals and targets which is why it is important to keep your lists achievable targets rather than 'wish-lists'. You will quickly find that you accomplish far more using this method than you ever did with a 20 hour day of 'drifting' from one task to another in no particular order.
That makes sense. I need to sit down and plan things out, maybe schedule. I've said in the past that I don't really adhere to a schedule, and I think that is one of the problems. A lack of exercise is another issue I need to work on.
Yeah you do need to work on your exercise. And if you don't i'll come over and kick ya ass Serious (Man, i'm getting all hyped up again...back to my work out)
this works really, really well for me. my list gets sort of ridiculous at times but it does keep me on track (i'm easily distracted). also, a cool tool for this is www.tadalist.com.
