I'm new to Photoshop. Today, I drew a search box for my Web site. I sliced it and saved it for the Web. But when I tried to incorporate the form, the image split apart. I found that the only way to do it without splitting the search box image was to make sure that the search box image was massive - far bigger than what I would allow. Is there a secret to doing it or something? What am I doing wrong? Also, can anyone point me in the direction of some decent Photoshop Web design-based tutorials?
Since the above post, I have heard that the image must not be sliced and saved for the Web but simply placed as a background image. Is that true? If so, can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial which explains how to do this, please?
I just use google search, and have it set up to exclusively search my site. Its another way to use adsense aswell.
The best way to accomplish this effect is using a background image through CSS. Here is a link I found to a good tutorial. HOWTO: spruce up your search box with CSS and a background image
