I'm working on my logo for a new clothing line. Im trying to put a circle around the letter A. With both sides of the circle 2 different colors.
similar to the miami U logo here [IMG]
but a circle. I tried to use the circle shape, stroke no fill. But how would I make one half of the circle a different color?

use the gradient tool to change the colour so one side will be what you want going to the other side to be what you want as well

I would do the same in either Photoshop or Illustrator. Just make a circle, use selection tool to cut half of it away. Now copy paste it and flip it on the y axis and wolla, you just got yourself 2 half circles which you can paint what ever color you'd like.

Just like JeppeUdesen said , after that use selection tool to one of them . After it is selected use Paint Bucket Tool (G) , select the colour You need and fill the cirlce .
