Fires are lapping up huge areas, including houses and people.
Tsunamis surprise the unsuspecting and devastate many.
Floods sweep away anything and everything, including people.
Tornadoes cut though, leaving one neighbour, destroying the other.
Earthquakes burying all that happens to be there.
How do you cope with hearing news like this? Especially now that is it setting more and more frequent?

I don't want to sound cynical, but I think I've just become desensitized to it all over the years. While I wince when I hear about these events, I don't dwell on them.

Unfortunately, the world was always like this. There's death, destruction and suffering all around - and not just in the Third World (although those nations do cop most of the misery).

Basically, we are all very lucky to be alive. That's why it's important to try and enjoy your life, do some good and not hurt people.
