Realizing that the hardest part of starting up a firm or a company, is naming it. So my question to all is how do you come up with your names? Reason why I'm asking is because I'm having a bit of trouble, so why not ask DP for help:)

start writing down all the options, options should be relevant to business type, do a lot of brain storming, gradually you should be able to start eliminating from the list when you are down to the last 2-3 you are almost there, good luck ;)

Visit a site called www.WordLab.com - they've got a huge message forum and a lot of name generating tools you can use. Keep in mind a lot of the names will be taken already but it could get your creative juices flowing and come up with some great company names to use.

Get family and friends together for a brainstorming party. Include the kids because they think outside of the box and come up with some wonderful ideas.

If you are going to brand the name then you want it very memorable. Something that is easy to remember and sounds nice when said.

You're right, it can be tough to come up with a name.

    Good Luck

Yeah it can be tough to come up with a name. I have been struggling myself a lot for that.

This being said, there are a few guidelines that you should follow to maximize the efficiency of the business name marketing wise. The name should have :

    - redundancy
    - rhyme

This is VERY important and is overlooked by so many people when they look for a name. A business name that has redundancy and rhyme in it is much more REMEMBERED by potential customers.

Think of all the famous brands :
    Coca Cola (redundancy + rhyme "co-a co-a")
    M&Ms
    Plum Pilot
    toyota

they're much more easily remembered than others which don't have these key elements in it.

It depends what your business is in. Looks at key words surrounding it. Check a theosaurus for alternative words too, and have a play with them. Try to think of something with a ring to it, as if it sounds good, it appeals to the clients

Yea, I've been brainstorming for the past 2days and im still blank. The thing is that I don't want to have a common name or a name that is in my field. I want some unique and creative, i might just get my family together and think and hopefully that boils the water.

A good business name is one that is unique, memorable and differentiates your company from others. The name should relate to your product or service so that people know what your company does when they see the name. You might also take into account possible logos that would work well with the names you are considering. It is smart to have a business name that works well with a logo.
