    .org typically refers to non-profits and charitable organizations.

    .edu refers to schools, colleges, universities, and museums with educational and research connections. They must be accredited by agencies recognized by the US DEpt. of Education.

    The site you linked to would be a .org since their organization is not a school, university, or museum.

    I use http://www.digpagerank.com/ but you can also type info:domainname in google to see if it's pointing to some other website.

    I use archive.org 's wayback machine to find domain history and also use whois to see when it was first created.
