How do you choose your colors for your design?

    1. Work on the color wheel and choose the colors from sketch
    2. Work on the Photoshop and come out with the color scheme
    3. choose color scheme from existing color scheme that is created by others
    4. search through your favorite website and eyedropper on those website to come out with the color scheme
    5. others : please stated

I have tried the first option, it does not work for me. Furthermore, the result is quite bad. Normally I go for a mix of 3 and 4 options.

    How about you??

I start out with the logo and choose complementary colors. Keeping dark text on white backgrounds is a great idea (it's the most readable color scheme) so I always try to incorporate white sections into my websites where huge chunks of text go. Remember, legibility is the most important function of most websites!

As for other stuff like headers and sidebars, I try to keep them compatible with the logo - usually with the same or complementary colors. It also helps to check out a couple of similar Web 2.0 sites on the net for ideas on the color scheme :)

I select colors that are appealing to whatever it is i'm selling and/or whatever the content is. For instance, if you are building a website to sell a product, you will want colors that attract people's attention. Because most people just browse over websites quickly, so vibrant but attractive colors are going to get their attention quicker (And i don't mean neons lol ). If you are building a site to sell a service and people will need to spend more time on your site to see what you are offering, use more muted colors that are easy on the eyes. Also, experiment and get feedback, as that's the best way to find out. Hope this helps and good luck!

What you need is to do is find a HSV Hue Harmonizer which are really simple to use and will automatically choose the colors for you. The downside of HSV is it has harsh harmony colors. If you want really want to make your users feel nice and cosy then use CIE LCH (ab) Harmony. The LCH (ab) is a version l*a*b color space. LCH (ab) is what the real pros use in design to make the colors rich and warm. It is really simple with the right tools and it will make a huge different for visitors.

I change it sometimes...I try to come up with my own...by just making a logo...and then rolling with it's colors. My other way is, looking at ready made sites, and if there color seems nice...trying to come up with similar ones.
