I just stick to things I'm interested in.

wither they be things I have lots of knowledge on or would like to learn (and don't mind doing research on)

I've tried picking things that center around high paying key words in the past but found that it doesn't work because I had no interest in them and so I didn't put in the time to update the sites as much as the ones that cover the stuff I like.

:) there are so many ways to actually pick a niche :) but to me the best thing to do is make a list of the one to actually like to do and you have a passion for.

Once you make this list then do research on those niches and see which ones are popular and see if there is an actual market for it. :)

then the best way to promote any niche is ezine articles utilizing a blog as your platform ;) that relates to your niche. I have done it and works great!

I will tell you the one way to know your niche!! If you love it and I mean eat, sleep, and breath your niche you will be much more likely to succeed I mean take me for some reason I am not sure why but I love making money, I am decent at it and have made ok money, but not great, I will be though. Any way when choosing a niche make sure you absoultly love it if not you will get sick of it and give up.

Totally wrong. I know plenty of webmasters that started as a hobby, now make a living from it, and still love doing it. You dont have to hate your job.

If its an area you enjoy you will put more effort into it, and it wont seem like as hard work due to the fact it is an area of interest for you.

The niche you choose should be popular but without a lot of other marketers using it. What you have to do is research all different types and choose the one that a lot of people do searches for and that you have an interest in.

Google doesn't care if you're passionate, although it will save you time if you can write it quicker.

Choosing a niche with your interest's in mind yet not the customers is going to set you up to fail. If you are out to make money you have got to think of the customer and put the correct product under their nose.

I've written about different topics and by this time, I already know which niches do bring me more money. It was experimental in the beginning but my hard work is starting to give results.
