How do you build trust?

How do you build trust? Not just in business but in any relationship?
I am convinced the same principles apply.
I know that one way of building trust is to keep promises. People will look to see them fulfilled and if they are not, the reputation is gone!
Another way to build trust is to be honest and admit when you don't know something. It's no crime - and we can always learn.
Can you think of any other ways, how to build trust - especially in business?

there are millions people and all are keep different mind so this is so hard to calculate trust in business. we have follow rules of business as "one hand things and other hand money" both parties should be believe each other, business will become strong otherwise everything is impossible.

trust is definitely essential and helpful to you and your business

    1) always be honest

    2) drum up business for your client ... if he runs a dog-wash then mention to your neighbor who has a dog that he has a great car-wash -- she'll take her dog and be impressed with you, he'll be thankful to you and want to send you business

    3) if you can't promise something DON"T -- say 'I'm going to try and do this'

    4) Go above and beyond what they expect for your services -- you'll be talked about and generate more business

    5) NEVER talk shit about bad clients -- even if it's towards someone else -- they will have a view of you that you are not the most upright guy since you are talking behind your clients back like that; let alone having the other guy get more pissed at you and telling all your new potential clients

    6) lastly, re-sell your client again and again and again -- he's already wanting to buy from you if you did well last time -- KEEP him as a customer!

Be honest, never tell a lie because you will get caught. Once a lie is found out, you lose everything. Never be someone you are not.

There is only one way to build trust and that is by doing exactly what you say you are going to do. For example if you have an online business and a customer buys a brand new item from your store then that is exactly what they expect, a brand new item not refurbished, not used but brand new because thats the promise that was made to them. Actually I dont believe you even have to build trust but my belief is that most people are honest and they expect honesty from you also and they will try you as honest until proven guilty. I mean lets be real every single business out there both online and offline no matter how successful first started their business without a single customer so thats proof that people already trust you.

To build trust right off the bat could be difficult. Customer reviews and being honest with your business will most definitely build credibility but will take time, just like how you build good feedbacks as a seller on eBay. However, there are services that could cost some money but shows the seriousness of your business/intentions. Most of those services don't build credibility but prevents buyers/users from doubts. It makes them feel at least somewhat safe about using your site. One eg would be security of your site especially with ecommerce type. Verisign, Thawte, GeoTrust, etc is one thing. BBB can definitely give you a boost but takes time and effort to qualify to put their logo on your site.

I would say being H O N E S T is the best way to gain trust. Also we should respect others.

I feel TRUST is the ONLY thing that is getting things done in this world, it is NOT money or power or anything else..

    Nice thread...

Depends - building trust over the internet is a very long process. I always make sure I reduce the risk as much as possible when dealing with people online (at the end of the day you have never met them).

When dealing with people face to face - same as above, be honest, sincere and respect people.

... but only if we act trustworthy!
I would not start to trust someone who cheats just because time goes by. I will only trust someone who acts in such a trustworthy way - after some time. Trust is earned. Don't you think?

Honest, Love, Care, Attitude are the things that builds trust. Someone trust you in first meeting and others may take ages, but it boils down to how you interact with them, how honest you are and whether you love and care for them, this goes for personal trust.

For trustworthy building business relations, same as above applies but there love should be for the job you are doing, if you love what you are doing everything else will follow (btw don't start loving cheating others).
