How do you attract teenager traffic?

I got a rather general forum aimed for teenager around 12 to 20 years old. The question is, which keywords would you use for that to be found by teenager? One thing is teenie bands but that makes topics too much focused on those bands.

"Teenager forum" isn't really searched at all. Any ideas?

Umm Anime.. my kids LOVE Anime... There's also an online RPG called Rune Scape (that might be how ya spell it.. might not too) Teens are into that silliness, I know this, I pay the membership dues monthly, because to be kool in Runescape.. though must be a member.

Myspace is hoppin with teens, but good luck gettin' em outa there hehe..

Honestly, I don't know that my kids really use the search engines though.. I think they pretty much travel word of mouth, unless of course theyre doing a history paper... once on a page, a banner takes them to another page.. they tell all there friends..and you know teens.. pretty soon.. everyone's a member

Y'know this may be a good approach..

I've done it with adults, and Like i said, when it comes to teens... it's word of mouth..

I didn't really consider this option, and don't have personal exp here, as my kids are only allowed private profiles on myspace, and aren't allowed to add friends they don't know personally.

    Definately word of mouth.

Take a look at tdotwire.com, it's a Canadian urban teen site. It is just about *THE* crappiest site to actually use, but very very popular among the urban Toronto teen. Particularly among the Afro-Canadian rap/hip-hop set.

Anytime the site admins change anything on that site, everyone gets POed if it's down, or the changes don't work right, it's got a pretty loyal following. I stumbled across it looking for my own forum ideas on Google, but there's thousands of users online at any given time. I'd say most of that site's traffic is word of mouth.

I see, so it's mostly the traditional way of marketing. Already expected that. Guess I gonna walk into some schools and drop some flyers ;)

Teenager traffic comes from Social Network Website such as Digg, MySpace, TotalFark and FaceParty.

You have to understand that teenager market is very different. They wont have the income to buy your product.

Teens respond to visual stuff and interaction.

Create a nice hip look and an interaction that is unique, then you'll see tons of teens coming on :).
