It is very important to analyze the backlinks of high ranking sites. I think this is one of the best things you can do to learn SEO. But, say if you want to uncover the linking strategy of a site with say 20K backlinks. Now the link:www.domain.com command in Yahoo (with SEO Quake turned on) will give you a good picture of the top 1K backlinks, but how do you see how they are getting the numbers up to fill in the other 19K backlinks. Would appreciate if anyone has a solution and would certainly +rep for this.
Good question. I normally use "backlinks master" to check what kind of anchor text people have used to link to a site. Unfortunately I have not been very successful getting the tool to analyze any more than a thousand links. If anyone has any other suggestions I would appreciate that too. In particular I'd like to know how effective SEO elite is in obtaining backlink data. What data is it able to extract and how effective is it for obtaining data for any more than 1000 links?
