How do you add text to a video file?

How do you add text to a windows media file, or an avi file?
Such as adding a watermark to the video with your website in it.

okay I have adobe premiere...What steps should take? I'm a NEWBIE to video editing.

Windows Movie Maker would do just fine for beginners. Believe me. That's how I got started.

 

as i know, you can add logos and watermarks to video with the help of some special programs such as VidLogo, the one i use.if it's the thing you wanted, look it up on geovid.com, probably it'll help you

 

For adding text in Adobe Premiere, use title function :

File > New > Title

Use title window to write your text.

Once finished, save it.

Place it on the timeline for the lenght you need.

Export movie in the new file.

I think that VidLogo is very good prog to modify video files and add logos and video watermarks

It is very good tool for webmasters,
I have site which allows play video, and want say that it is very good tools for me,

for example, I cannot allow users play video without my logo on every video frame and Studio allows add watermnark on 100 files on time!

Those software you suggest are quite expensive,
if you do not like to download cracked software, and personally my experience is that 1 out of 2 crackes softwares contains something "wrong", then you can go on a easy tool that is cheap as well,
