Has someone experienced image ads that disturb your sites harmonious look and feel?

When you search and look around do you click on image ads? - I don't.
Why? - If a site can't provide enough info on a space like banners, skyscrapers and so, what can you expect from that site? I think its a psychological issue, and this is why graphical ads can't be as successful as text ads.

Its not always a manner of the click. Its the quality of click and sometimes a banner ad can show you in images what words cant explain. The only reason you dont click on banner ads because your obviously not interested in the product because its clearly desplayed.

I click on banner ads from time to time but the biggest issue is that most of them look the same these days. They are way to busy filled with stock images that are present on a 100 new sites.

It will be interesting to see what effect AdSense/AdWords soon allowing animated banners will have

Often its the other way round. The banners are pleasing the site's dissapointing. That happens most of the time.
    and then this...

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 2005 Russell Perkins, CEO, InfoCommerce Group Inc. (ICG), the leading consulting and research firm serving the online data publishing industry, has warned that Google...

...Perkins writes that Google plans to offer graphics, animation and other elements that will let advertisers aggressively clamor for users' attention, making Google "just like everyone else." Perkins contends that as Google starts to add graphical advertisements, its site will start to look as busy as all of its competitors and its Spartan elegance which spoke of speed and focus will disappear...

    so true

... and why then has CJ (comission junction) for example not more success?
Their clients using beautiful designed banners, leaderboards, skyscrapers ...
    Their program comissions are great!

Most of my sites have a small 1 px border around the Adsense ads, so when I do get a image ad it is seperated from the rest of my content enought that it doesn't disturb it.

And I'd fall into the the banner design > my site design rule, easily.

If you don't like image ads on your site then all you need do is limit adsense to text-only ads from your user control panel settings. No biggie.

I hate banners. I don't click on them and 99.9% of the time, they detract from the site on which they are placed. Text ads rule.

Advertiser using banner ads to provide information about their product to the visitors. They won't expect a leads from the banner ads. Thats why if you saw most of the banner ads, will have almost complete information of their product. The best type of ads that will lead to a sales is still a text ads.

I never display google image ads on my site, but I know its really hard to earn revenue from it.

I beleive that the AS publisher should have the choice to run text or image ads. I like text ads because they load faster and they still receive high ctr that any image ad I have run. So, I agree if you don't like 'em don't use 'em.

I hate graphic ads. They slow down my site, look ugly, and they reduce my CTR becuase people have become banner blind.

Yea, when I get a large 'google adsense' ad I get angry because I know it doesn't pay well and it is taking up the whole space.

This is true - seems like people have grown accustomed to 'blocking out' banners etc.
